Wedding FAQ

Let’s talk about all your wedding related questions, concerns, etc etc.

Quick facts about me - I’ve shot over 200 weddings, been a professional photographer for nearly 20 years, have flown all over Canada and the USA to document intimate weddings, big events, and all kinds of amazing situations, never for a second gotten tired of showing up to shoot weddings and make my clients over the moon happy with their image collections.

I’m 45 years old, stand 6”3’, a dad of two handsome rascal boys, love taking wrist shots from the point, and also run a one-man web development agency called Yeah Yeah Yeah. I bake breads, focaccias, pizza, and wish I started playing basketball when I was much, much younger.

Do you travel for weddings?

Yes, I’m fortunate to have had clients bring me out and fly me out to many out of town events throughout the years. There is an endless amount of wild beauty across Canada and I’ll always get excited to pack up for these trips. I especially want to explore more northern and coastal areas (wink wink)... however, I'd be honoured to visit you wherever you are planning your celebration. However, I am not taking on bookings in the USA due to recent changes with border crossing for the simple reason of not wanting any risk or problems for my clients if something were to happen.

Have you shot many weddings? Are you a pro?

Yes, photography has been my full-time job and passion for nearly two decades. I feed my family with my camera, and have two sons who eat a lot...so.. I'm honoured to have played a part in every wedding I’ve attended.

How many photos will we have in the end?

For an 8hr+ booking, I'll normally deliver somewhere around 500-700 images– edited with my colouring and style, making everything very consistent, and strong. I want your images to look amazing and classic 20 years from now. This means a lot of black and white images, and images with finely controlled, yet colourful tones. You'll be able to download your image collection within two weeks post-wedding day, and share your family and friends collection at the same time.

Is there an easy way for our guests to see group portraits & images of them from the wedding?

Yes of course, it is super important that your guests see and access all their favourite images, and you’ll have your very own gorgeous family and friends gallery through right within my print shop. They can easily access, view, order prints, and share their favourite images, and it's super easy to use.

Can I see some full galleries within your print shop?

For sure - check out my galleries store here - https://michealbphotography.instaproofs.com/gallery/#events and view any gallery you wish to see full weddings. Find out just how easy it is to use the gallery for yourself; it’s built for grandmas.

What kind of cameras do you shoot with?

I primarily use and shoot with Fuji x-series equipment. These low-profile cameras are small and nearly silent, which make for the best cameras in special situations where I need to be discreet, quiet, and out of the way if you will, to capture natural-looking portraits. I also shoot film whenever possible at weddings, and for this we’re talking 35mm point and shoot cameras, which I bring and use totally for fun, spontaneity, and for images that are risky.

Do you bring backup gear? Are you insured?

Yes, I always bring extra equipment, backup cameras, and have liability coverage for up to 2 million dollars, worldwide.

Do we have ‘rights’ to print our photos?

100% yes, the digital files I deliver to my clients can be printed anywhere prints are made. Most clients prefer the ease of ordering gorgeous prints through my shop (which arrive beautifully packaged). However with full resolution images you can make your own prints at any print shop. I also do not watermark my images which many studios do, so you can be sure that every image is edited to look amazing on screen and in print.

How long does it take to get our image collection?

On your booking contract it’s clearly written that I deliver my clients images within two weeks of their wedding day. I begin editing and processing your images very quickly while everyone is still excited to see the gallery asap. I'll also make sure to send over a few teaser images asap so you can share one or two images online.

What types of payment do you accept?

My webshop will accept all major credit cards. My Canadian clients very often send a simple email money transfer, which will earn them a $50 print credit to use through my print shop.

What is required to officially book you?

To confirm your booking, I need two things ~ a signed booking contract and 50% package total deposit, all of which can be done online, through my webshop. When you’re ready to move forward and book me we’ll go over which collection you’d like to book, I draw up your booking contract which shows exactly what is included, what payment is needed, and a few terms and conditions. That document is then uploaded for you to review and sign online. Then lastly, your deposit is needed which can be done a number of ways, in the payment method you prefer.
