Downtown Montreal Adventure Session | Jessica & Ken

#Makingmagic all over town that evening with Jessica and Ken. In nearly ten years of working with couples, I've never seen two people stopped more times by strangers on the street for autographs, a quick selfie snap, and general praise and interest than Jessica and Ken. Their Montreal Adventure Session was full of surprises, and it didn't take long to understand these two have a crazy-fun level of energy I can't wait to witness again on thier upcoming wedding day. #BaBam.

Ice Cream Adventure Session | Katrina & LP

It's a fact ~ a heatwave couldn't stop these two from getting tangled up. Katrina & LP travelled from their home in Brooklyn to finish up wedding preparations in advance of their upcoming party time, and the weather couldn' have been hotter. On the Brooklyn side LP is keeping it fresh at The Fader, and Katrina is uping the quality over at TED. Whoa!

Lucky for us the Parc Ave Dairy Queen was fully stocked, and we ordered a few chocolate dipped cones to make the most of the hazy, humid evening that was last Sunday, aka Montreal engagement session

These two winners are fantastic.

If you are engaged or perhaps hitting the ice cream lineup with someone you love? that's awesome! You need a record of these days. Take a minute to learn more about my adventure sessions here, or check out some previous sessions below.

Montreal Adventure Session | Alex & Manuel

This was one Adventure Session I was super looking forward to. Not only are Alex and Manuel planning their wedding day celebration at Grumman 78, one of Montreal's most hip and delicious restaurants famous for it's lime-green taco truck, but they are also self confessed film geeks, lovers of all things tv, bike rides, and huge fans of Montreal. Yup, this was a good one. Elyna (unity weddings) and I are planning on taking real good care of these two. Come back soon guys!!

Montreal Adventure Session | Stacy & Edd

Without a doubt, Stacy and Edd’s adventure session was the windiest ever.

Way before Stay and Edd’s Montreal Adventure Session even started they knew what they were getting into. These sessions I plan and create for my couples are all about having loads of fun, and hitting pause on the wedding planning to-do list. This is also an opportunity for my clients and I to meet for the first time, and here I’m able to show them how we’ll easily capture the gorgeous, authentic, and warm portraits they’re so looking forward to. We got a few of those :)

“Micheal is a wonderful photographer to work with. During the adventure session he was able to make us feel incredibly comfortable in order to capture memorable and natural moments. The photos from our adventure session turned out beautiful!" - Stacy

Stacy and Edd, loving life. They rocked it. Can’t wait for the wedding later this month guys ~

Montreal Adventure Session - Why this rocks.

Creative Vancouver couple fly to Montreal for their Adventure Session in Mile End.

If you are reading this post chances are you're recently engaged, or in a serious relationship, which is an awesome 'life status' right? This is a really special time in your life, and it's a wonderful thing to have a few photographs of you and your partner that you're both really proud of, and that somehow capture 'you' and your personalities in an intimate and truly authentic way.

Nearly every couple I've ever worked with at some point before their adventure session or wedding talk about feeling anxious in front of the camera. I usually hear something like this “I’m not a model, I’m super awkward in photos, I get scared as hell in front of the camera, what am I supposed to do with my hands? I never look as good in pictures as I do in real life” etc etc.. we love all your natural looking portraits, there gorgeous, but we are freaked out about out session”

Does this ever happen to you? You are in the middle of something awesome, at a really cool event, or laughing out loud, feeling awesome, and then, a friend tries to capture that moment and the second you see a camera pointed in your direction the fun’s over and you immediately become self conscious? How do we get around that?

Easy… no problem, my answer is really simple, look at the image above this text, we start dancing in the middle of the street and all fears will be forgotten, instantly. Then, we get to work by having fun without thinking about photography, fear is a thing of the past, and really, it's a little adventure with a camera somewhere in the mix.

Many of my couples fly across the country to shoot their sessions, and before they do I ask them one question, through your photos, how do you want to remember this time in your life? This is what my Adventure Sessions are all about. Giving you the images you’ve always wanted, images you can finally be proud of, and love to call your own. I’ve created lots of ways to make my couples feel totally comfortable with me minutes after meeting me, and all the fun, intimate expressions and looks you see in my portraits are my clients authentic and true reaction to me, no awkward poses here :)

(side note) One thing I like to do to break the ice is give my camera to the couple very early on in the session, and ask them to take each others portrait, anywhere, anyway they wish, which comes as a total surprise to them, but again it's about having fun, feeling a little vulnerable, and loving it in that moment. Great things begin from that point, and it's not even about photography anymore.

If you are in a relationship, or engaged, and loving life right now take a second and think about this - through your photos, how do you want to remember this time in your life?

Contact me here and let me know all about it. I can't wait to hear from you.

Wakefield Adventure Session, Eric & Lindsay, Engaged.

I love to drive, and always look forward to a trip with a wide view. This session brought me back to Wakefield Quebec, for an adventure session with Lindsay and Jonathan.

Much like these two, most of my clients live in cities abroad and their adventure session is often the first chance to meet in person, which is another reason I so look forward to these sessions. In true adventure style, my couples normally aren’t aware of where I’ll bring them for their session, but it was really nice to meet and be invited into Lindsay and Jonathan’s home, surrounded by shade, woods, boulders, and the kind of country quiet you miss 5 minutes after hitting the road back home.

We took our time walking through the windy fields, with the sun high and behind us. Here are just a handful of images from their Wakefield Adventure Session.

Montreal Adventure Session, Gabrielle & David

Meet Gabrielle & David, fresh off their flight from Vancouver to celebrate with friends in West Brome for their Montreal destination wedding this weekend. We roamed through the hills on Mont Royal, strolled along Avenue du Parc, and ran through traffic often. Here are a few images from that evening. Isn't she stunning though? I truly can't wait to meet with them again soon, this one's going to be something.
