A hip Grumman 78 Montreal Wedding | Alex and Manuel

Once most known for their lime green taco truck, the St Henri restaurant Grumman 78 is now a local institution famous for incredible Mexican fusion dishes that hit the right spot every time.

Wild decor fills the converted garage into something feeling more like an urban ranch, with a million low slung lights dangling from the ceiling, a dozen tables of all different shapes and sizes spread throughout the interior, and fantastic staff always working to create tasty surprises for guests to snack on. Think haute cuisine with the simplicity of Southern barbecue. You can feel that this is a special place, especially on a summer night. It's impossible not to be impressed by it all.

The fried chicken, duck chilaquiles, the food was superbly executed, and the service was (and has always been) top-notch, with one of the most delightful crew's in the city. Needless to say, if you are planning a wedding and on the fence about committing to Grumman, the answer is simple, go for it (and please bring me with you).

With that being said, Alex and Manuel... after a few hours mingling and dancing with guests - all of whom travelled hours and hours be there, excitedly moved on over to a narrow courtyard to be seating to witness the wedding ceremony. Imagine this ~ the summer sun had already long set, the only lights outside were tiny orange-glowing patio bulbs just bright enough to light up a conversation.

Enter event planner Elyna Kudish, guaranteed to make the experience unforgetable, hand-designed a massive wall of wild foliage, palm leaves, and other fantastic green things, which were now cross lit by neon spotlights as the backdrop to Alex and Manuel's wedding ceremony. It was dramatic in all the right ways, and such a pleasure to witness the excitement in the courtyard during those moments. Everywhere you went and looked that evening the vibe was buzzing, partly thanks to the excellent mixing of Dj Zo, the bar staff, basically, and the party was off the hook.

These images are only a tiny preview of what's on the way from this next level Grumman 78 Montreal wedding.

Cardinal Tea Room Wedding | Stacy & Edd

Just a few images from a really special day watching Stacy and Edd tie the knot recently. The Montreal Courthouse was the location for their wedding ceremony, which is a place I hadn't been to since my own wedding there several years earlier. Being there brought back a lot of good memories, and I was happy to know this would also be a very special place for Stacy and Edd.
After we made hilarious guest portraits and witnessed the depth of Montreal traffic delays everyone came back together for phase two of the day.

Family and friends were invited to the fantastically hip Cardinal Tea Room on St. Laurent, for dinner and a dance party. Sadly I wasn't there to catch all that, but by judging the playlist Stacy had expertly put together I knew the rest of the evening would be next level.

It was a pleasure, all the best to you both ~ Cheers Stacy & Edd.

Montreal Adventure Session - Why this rocks.

Creative Vancouver couple fly to Montreal for their Adventure Session in Mile End.

If you are reading this post chances are you're recently engaged, or in a serious relationship, which is an awesome 'life status' right? This is a really special time in your life, and it's a wonderful thing to have a few photographs of you and your partner that you're both really proud of, and that somehow capture 'you' and your personalities in an intimate and truly authentic way.

Nearly every couple I've ever worked with at some point before their adventure session or wedding talk about feeling anxious in front of the camera. I usually hear something like this “I’m not a model, I’m super awkward in photos, I get scared as hell in front of the camera, what am I supposed to do with my hands? I never look as good in pictures as I do in real life” etc etc.. we love all your natural looking portraits, there gorgeous, but we are freaked out about out session”

Does this ever happen to you? You are in the middle of something awesome, at a really cool event, or laughing out loud, feeling awesome, and then, a friend tries to capture that moment and the second you see a camera pointed in your direction the fun’s over and you immediately become self conscious? How do we get around that?

Easy… no problem, my answer is really simple, look at the image above this text, we start dancing in the middle of the street and all fears will be forgotten, instantly. Then, we get to work by having fun without thinking about photography, fear is a thing of the past, and really, it's a little adventure with a camera somewhere in the mix.

Many of my couples fly across the country to shoot their sessions, and before they do I ask them one question, through your photos, how do you want to remember this time in your life? This is what my Adventure Sessions are all about. Giving you the images you’ve always wanted, images you can finally be proud of, and love to call your own. I’ve created lots of ways to make my couples feel totally comfortable with me minutes after meeting me, and all the fun, intimate expressions and looks you see in my portraits are my clients authentic and true reaction to me, no awkward poses here :)

(side note) One thing I like to do to break the ice is give my camera to the couple very early on in the session, and ask them to take each others portrait, anywhere, anyway they wish, which comes as a total surprise to them, but again it's about having fun, feeling a little vulnerable, and loving it in that moment. Great things begin from that point, and it's not even about photography anymore.

If you are in a relationship, or engaged, and loving life right now take a second and think about this - through your photos, how do you want to remember this time in your life?

Contact me here and let me know all about it. I can't wait to hear from you.

I knew I'd love these two after their Montreal Adventure Session took us climbing to the top of Mont Saint Gregoire last year, (check that excellent session here) and their Golf Le Mirage wedding day did not disappoint. Gabrielle and Ola's cool rocker vibes, the hot summer sun, guests and family from all over the world reunited for a sweet celebration. - Ola and Gabrielle tie the knot! There are so so so many more images I'd love to share, friends and family can view lots more here, but here are just a few that really feels right.

Don't you just love these two? That Ola was on fire all day and Gabrielle is the sweetest right? If you are getting married or would love warm, fun, authentic portraits of you and your love - drop me a line, I want to hear all about your story. Let's celebrate this time in your life.
